Wise as a Giraffe

Reality is serious, and somber and black and white
reality fits into a box, in which there are no lies
reality is boring, and full of horrid facts,
but when I am writing reality will be much more than that.

So these are my realities from which I gain a laugh
reality’s not so serious, just look at a giraffe.
A neck to long, a head to small a tongue that isn’t pink
if the giraffe is part of reality, so am I, I think.

The lanky giraffe does not despair of the reality it portrays
I think this animal is wise to make better use of its days.
It doesn’t mind that we may laugh at how funny it may seem
it doesn’t care that it won’t fit in the box of reality’s dream.

So though I’m not always accurate, I can’t remember all the dates
I don’t have notes or facts all sorted in packages and crates
I don’t include a time line, there are not pie charts or graphs,
but I think it’s safe to say, I’m as wise as the giraffe.
